You've barely played the game. Keep playing and don't worry about winning or losing. The learning curve in this game is so intensive that it will be hundred of hours before you approach average and after that the growth becomes exponentially more difficult.

Spend a lot of time in freeplay when you can and just hit the ball around to get better mechanics. It may feel like you are not improving much because the game is pretty old and even the lower ranks have become way better.
